The Trent Rockets faced the London Spirit in the 20th match of The Hundred 2024. The Rockets were able to overhaul their opposition in the match at the Trent Bridge in Nottingham. 

The Trent Rockets won the toss and batted first in the innings. Their innings was fuelled by a brilliant hand by Alex Hales, who scored 68 runs off 42 deliveries. He was well accompanied by Tom Banton (36 off 25) and Joe Root (32 off 23). The Rockets posted a handsome total of 166 runs on the board at the end of their 100 balls. 


Rashid Khan brings out an MSD special

The Lewis Gregory-led took the momentum of the last ball of their batting innings into their bowling effort. On the last delivery of the innings, Rashid Khan was up against Richard Gleeson. The Afghan superstar anticipated a wide fullish ball from the English bowler and set himself up by shuffling across the stumps way before it was delivered. Once Rashid got it in his range, he launched it into the stands over the long-on fence. The travelled a whopping distance of 94 metres. His shot reminded the fans of the iconic six hit by MS Dhoni during the ODI World Cup 2011 final. 

Rashid's heroics for the game did not end there. He came up with the good with the ball in hand too. He picked up four wickets, which included the most important ones of Dan Lawrence and Shimron Hetmyer, conceding only 24 runs in his 20 balls. Rashid Khan's brilliant effort with the ball ensured that the Trent Rockets restricted the Spirit at 144, thus winning the game by 22 runs.
