Ruturaj Gaikwad has been the man in form for CSK in IPL 2024 and has notched up 51 runs in just 12 innings this season. So, a lot was expected of him when he walked out to the middle with massive 232-run target infront of CSK. The visiting skipper though fell for a three-ball duck as Rashid Khan took a brilliant catch the near the boundary line to put CSK in a big hole.

It was the fifth delivery of the third over and Umesh Yadav bowled it short on off. Gaikwad pulled it nicely but failed to get enough power behind his shot to hit it past Rashid Khan at deep square leg fence. 

The GT spinner timed his jump nicely and first took the catch, then as he anticipated that his foot is moving towards the boundary line, threw the ball in the air and grabbed it again with one hand with great calmness.

He brought out a big smile after taking the catch which showed the confidence he had in his effort. The on-field umpires though took a good decision to not take any risk and send it upstairs for checking the fairness of the catch, and after several replays from different angles, the decision was confirmed as out. 

The wicket brought back the memories of the controversial Sanju Samson catch by Shai Hope in the DC-RR game, but this time around, the third umpire made sure that he had proper evidence before making a final decision.
