In a highly anticipated clash between South Africa and the Netherlands in the World Cup 2023, cricket fans were treated to an early twist in the tale as Proteas' prolific batter, Quinton de Kock, fell prey to a cunning delivery from Colin Ackermann. De Kock, who had been in scintillating form throughout the tournament, amassing consecutive centuries, was expected to be a formidable force yet again. However, it was Ackermann who claimed the coveted wicket, injecting a newfound zeal into the Dutch squad.

As the Netherlands fought valiantly to defend a target of 244/8, their skipper, Scott Edwards, played a delightful innings, contributing 78 runs to their cause.

For the Proteas, the innings began with promise, but it was Ackermann's precision in the eighth over that turned the tide. Quinton de Kock, who had been a symbol of consistency and dominance, managed 20 runs off 22 balls before Ackermann's deceptive delivery sent him back to the pavilion.

Ackermann's delivery displayed a round-arm drift, causing the ball to skid and bounce unexpectedly, leaving de Kock with no option but to attempt a sweep shot. Unfortunately, he misjudged the timing, resulting in a top-edge that nestled safely in the Scott Edwards's gloves.

At the time of writing, South Africa found themselves at 42/3 after 11 overs.
