[Watch] Quinton de Kock ‘Trapped’ As Nabi & Afghanistan Triumph With A ‘Spot-On’ DRS

Quinton de Kock’s steady 47-ball 41 run knock ended in a disappointing manner as Mohammad Nabi and Afghanistan hit a jackpot by taking a perfect DRS against the World Cup 2023’s top-scorer on Friday.

Chasing a below-par 245 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, de Kock was taking South Africa home slowly yet steadily. Coming to bowl the 14th over, Mohammad Nabi bowled a lovely delivery that drifted in, which de Kock tried to tackle by playing a reverse sweep.

However, the wicket-keeper batsman failed to make any connection with the bat before it hit his pads. A loud appeal for LBW came straightaway from the Afghanistan camp, but on-field umpire Chris Brown had no interest in raising his finger.

Nabi talked with his teammates and convinced skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi to take the DRS. Shahidi agreed with the veteran and signalled T. The replay on the big screen confirmed there was no edge before the ball struck his pads, and three reds illuminated, confirming de Kock had to leave.

As of writing, South Africa are 84/2 in 17.2 overs, and they should be chasing this total with ease.
