Afghanistan were officially knocked out of the World Cup 2023 just when 43.1 overs were bowled against South Africa at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.

They had to go past the 438-run mark after opting to bat against the Proteas. Even if they get there, they had to knock over South Africa under five, which was realistically not possible.

Afghanistan closed their innings on 244 after 50 overs, with Azmatullah Omarzai remaining not out on 97* off 107 balls. So far, they have as many as four victories over England, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and the Netherlands, which are nothing but a remarkable feat by Rashid Khan and his boys.

Meanwhile, Afghanistan’s game against South Africa is still not over. That will be an incredible campaign to remember if Rashid, and Mujeeb Ur Rahman, among others, can stun the Proteas.

However, Pakistan are still in the chase to topple New Zealand for a place in the semi-finals. However, the Men in Green have to pull off an unthinkable task to make it happen when they take the field on Saturday against defending champions England at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
