Quinton de Kock is one of the most talented batters in world cricket and whenever he gets going, there are very few who can match his quality. He started the World Cup 2023 with a bang as well, smashing two centuries in a row, and contributing massively in two big Proteas win. However against England he failed to live upto his billing and departed on the second delivery after smashing first ball of the game for a boundary.

The wicket of Quinton de Kock came as a big blow to South Africa who are already low on confidence after shocking loss against the Dutch. Joss Buttler won the toss and decided to bowl first, in a hope that his bowlers will extract some help from the pitch and Reece Topley with a wicket in the very first over obliged his skipper's decision.

It was a fullish delivery, outside off and swung slightly away from Quinton de Kock. The Proteas wicketkeeper batter tried to drive it but got a faint outside edge that was caught by Jos Buttler behind the stumps. The English skipper appealed but the umpire responded against the appeal eventually forcing Buttler to take the DRS. The replays followed and it showed an edge off the bat, bringing an end to Quinton's short stay. De Kock actually played a similar shot off the first delivery that fetched him a boundary but failed in a bid to repeat it, bringing smiles in English dressing room.
