In a significant setback for South Africa, skipper Temba Bavuma has been ruled out of the crucial World Cup clash against England in Mumbai. Notably, Bavuma has fallen sick and Aiden Markram has come out for the toss alongside his English counterpart Jos Buttler.

Back-up opener Reeza Hendricks replaces Bavuma in the South African playing XI for this game. This is the only change that the Proteas have made to their playing XI from the previous face-off against the Netherlands.

Bavuma had been struggling with batting form in this World Cup, amassing only 59 runs in three outings at a mediocre average.

However, riding on the astounding success of Quinton de Kock, Aiden Markram and Rassie van der Dussen, the Proteas recorded two thumping wins before incurring a shocking defeat to the Dutch in Dharamsala.

Meanwhile, England have won the toss and elected to bowl in this high-octane face-off at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai. The Englishmen have made three changes, replacing Chris Woakes, Sam Curran and Liam Livingstone with Ben Stokes, Gus Atkinson and David Willey.
