Rohit Asked DJ To Not Play 'Dil Dil Pakistan': Michael Vaughan Brutally Roasts Mickey Arthur

In the wake of India's commanding victory over Pakistan by 7 wickets in Match 12 of the ICC World Cup 2023, former England captain Michael Vaughan took a sarcastic jibe at Pakistan coach Mickey Arthur's unusual remarks about the lack of the song ‘Dil Dil Pakistan’ during the game.

Vaughan mocks Arthur's excuse after Pakistan's humiliating defeat to India

The English cricketing legend playfully implied that Rohit Sharma’s strategic move was to ensure the DJ refrained from playing the song.

Vaughan was peaking on the ‘Club Prairie Fire‘ podcast alongside Australian cricket legend Adam Gilchrist.

“Without doubt, Rohit Sharma’s best move, and the move that won them the game, and the Pakistan coach alluded to it afterwards, is Rohit obviously said to the DJ- Just do not play ‘Dil Dil Pakistan’", quipped Vaughan.

"If they played ‘Dil Dil Pakistan’, Pakistan were going to win. Do not play that song pre-match. Make sure they don’t hear that inspirational song that obviously makes them play so well,” taunted the former England captain.

Vaughan, known for his sharp wit, continued with his sarcasm as he heaped praise on the Indian captain’s “innovative” tactics.

“That was clever. Most captains don’t think of things like that. The DJs, the music. Rohit is ahead of his times," concluded Vaughan.

Gilchrist, the podcast co-host, found it hard to contain his laughter over this light-hearted dig at Pakistan coach, Mickey Arthur.

For the unversed, in a post-match comment that left many puzzled, Mickey Arthur had pointed out that the India-Pakistan clash felt more like a BCCI event than an ICC one, lamenting the absence of chants of “Dil Dil Pakistan”.

While the sentiment might have been rooted in the passion and emotions that surround Indo-Pak matches, the assertion left the coach open to jibes and jests.

Meanwhile, having lost consecutive matches after a strong start to the World Cup, Pakistan now finds itself in a tight spot. The team's management and fans alike will be hoping for a swift comeback, not just to boost their tournament aspirations but perhaps to also divert attention from Arthur's bizarre post-match analysis.
