Quinton de Kock did not have a great start in the IPL 2024, having scored only four runs in the tournament opener against Rajasthan Royals. However, the South African did not disappoint on Saturday evening when Lucknow Super Giants faced Punjab Kings in Match 11 of the ongoing edition at Ekana Stadium.

And more importantly, the shot he played against one of his South African teammates, Kagiso Rabada, was nothing but class apart.

It was a full-length delivery by Rabada, who came to bowl for the first time before the third over of Lucknow’s innings. De Kock was waiting for it and played an audacious drive off the back foot. The timing was so perfect, as the ball went way over the backward point for a classy six.

However, de Kock’s opening partner and LSG skipper KL Rahul, who is playing as an impact player today, failed to capitalize on his excellent start. The talismanic batsman departed after scoring nine-off 15 balls, with Arshdeep Singh drawing the first blood.

At the time of writing this, LSG are 45/1 after 5 overs, with de Kock scoring 16-ball 20 not out, whereas Devdutt Padikkal is on 9* off 6 balls.
