Nicholas Pooran flogged Mumbai Indians bowlers with a scintillating 75-run knock from just 29 deliveries at the Wankhede Stadium in match number 67 of the IPL 2024 season.

Arriving to the crease inside the halfway stage of the innings, the cricketer launched five scorching boundaries and eight towering sixes to thwart a charged-up Mumbai Indians attack after LSG had slipped to a tricky 69-3.

Unfortunately for the visitors, Pooran’s blistering act was halted by Nuwan Thushara at a time when more than three overs were still left in the innings. The dynamic southpaw was holed out by an agile Suryakumar Yadav right at the edge of the boundary in the team’s 17th over.

Thushara and Suryakumar curtail Pooran’s blazing knock

Arriving to the crease at 69-3 following the early dismissal of Deepak Hooda in 9.3 overs, in-form middle-order batter Nicholas Pooran shared 109 runs with skipper KL Rahul off the subsequent 44 deliveries to soar LSG past the 150-run mark in a blaze of fury.

Just as LSG fans were bracing themselves for a thunderous finish to the innings, Pooran’s blistering act was halted by Nuwan Thushara’s wide yorker and some sharp fielding from Suryakumar Yadav at the boundary. The West Indies-based batter eventually walked back to the sheds with a 29-ball 75 to his name, thus notching up his third half-century of the IPL 2024 season.

Nicholas Pooran’s dismissal was followed by two more wickets, including that of well-set half-centurion KL Rahul as Mumbai Indians claimed a sensational team hat-trick at the death. After LSG slipped to 178-6 from 178-3 in the space of just three deliveries, Ayush Badoni and Krunal Pandya bashed identical cameos in the final few overs to storm their side to a 214-run finish at the end of their 20 overs.
