Phoebe Litchfield, a 20-year-old Australian cricket sensation, is on the rise as a potential successor to the likes of Perry, Lanning, or Healy. 

Her recent outstanding performances with the bat have garnered attention, but her exceptional fielding skills have not gone unnoticed either. 

In the first ODI against Bangladesh, Litchfield showcased her prowess with a remarkable direct throw runout echoing of the legendary Ricky Ponting.

In the chase of 214 runs, Bangladesh seemed to be gradually closing in on the target with a score of 71/3. On Ellyse Perry's bowling, Bangladeshi captain Nigar Sultana attempted a quick single. 

However, the ball swiftly reached Phoebe, who executed a precise and powerful throw to the keeper's end, resulting in Fahima Khatun being run out. 

This crucial moment shifted the momentum of the game, disrupting Bangladesh's rhythm, ultimately leading to their collapse as they were eventually all out for 95 runs.


Phoebe Litchfield - The next big thing

In 2020, at just 16 years old, Phoebe achieved a significant milestone by becoming the youngest player, regardless of gender, to score a fifty in either the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) or the Big Bash League (BBL).

Later Phoebe Litchfield emerged as a revelation during Australia's tour of India in December-January. Amidst the challenges many newbies faced on Indian soil, she stood out with an impressive performance throughout the tournament. Phoebe had scored a hundred in Indian series. 

Her efforts were duly recognized as she was awarded the Emerging Cricketer of the Year accolade. With the T20 World Cup and ODI World Cup approaching next year, Litchfield appears poised to carry the torch for Australia into the future.
