Riding on bowlers' spirited performance, the Netherlands made a commendable fightback in their ongoing World Cup clash against New Zealand in Hyderabad. After losing Will Young and Rachin Ravindra in quick succession, the BlackCaps suffered a massive setback when Paul van Meekeren cleaned up Daryl Mitchell with an absolute beauty.

After getting off to a solid start, courtesy of useful contributions from their top three batters, New Zealand were in a spot of bother at one stage, losing Rachin Ravindra and Will Young in the middle overs.

However, Daryl Mitchell launched a counter attack on the Dutch, racing to 48, including five boundaries and two sixes, in just 47 balls.

However, ace Dutch pacer Paul van Meekeren provided them with a crucial breakthrough, castling Mitchell with a sensational delivery. It was an off-cutter, that came back into Mitchell sharply, breaching his defence and shattering the timber. His dismissal certainly minimised the damage for the Netherlands, as he was going strong in the middle.

After Mitchell's departure, Bas de Leede got rid of Glenn Phillips for run-a-ball four in the 42nd over. As of writing, New Zealand are placed at 253 for five in 43.5 overs, with Tom Latham and Mark Chapman batting on 32* and 4*, respectively.
