On Sunday, India secured a thumping six-wicket victory over Australia to kickstart their World Cup campaign in style. Chasing a modest 200-run target, India suffered a top-order collapse, being reduced to two for three inside two overs. While Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer got out to Josh Hazlewood, Ishan Kishan was dismissed by ace Aussie speedster Mitchell Starc.

Despite being the third opener, Ishan Kishan played the game as Shubman Gill was ruled out due to viral fever.

Furthermore, as per the latest news, the stylish opener is yet to fully recover from Dengue and hence won't feature in India's second group-stage game against Afghanistan.

As confirmed by the BCCI, Gill won't be travelling with the team, staying in Chennai with the medical team instead. He will take a bit more time to get match-fit and hence is all set to miss the encounter in Delhi.

In his absence, Ishan Kishan will continue to open alongside skipper Rohit Sharma, with India likely to continue with the same playing XI after a convincing win over the Aussies.

India's probable playing XI vs Afghanistan

Rohit Sharma (C), Ishan Kishan, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (WK), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj
