In a phenomenal achievement, veteran Australian pacer Pat Cummins registered the first hattrick of T20 World Cup 2024 during his side's ongoing Super Eights clash against Bangladesh at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua.

With this remarkable landmark, Cummins became the seventh bowler to claim a hattrick in T20 World Cups. Furthermore, he is the fourth Australian bowler to unlock the feat in T20 Internationals.

Bowling the third over of his spell, Cummins got rid of Bangladesh's experienced batter Mahmudullah and Mahedi Hasan on the final two deliveries. As a result, he was on a hattrick when heading to his final over of the innings.

Coming to bowl the 20th over, the right-arm pacer bowled a full-length ball to Towhid Hridoy, who was well-set for a half century. As the Bangladesh batter played a scoop shot, the ball went straight to Josh Hazlewood, who completed a simple catch at fine leg.

Thus, Cummins scripted history, becoming only the second Australian bowler after Brett Lee to record a hattrick in T20 World Cups. Notably, Lee achieved the feat in the inaugural edition of the tournament in South Africa.

Meanwhile, riding on Hridoy's valuable 40-run knock, Bangladesh finished on 140 for eight in 20 overs despite losing wickets at regular intervals.
