The 2nd match of the Big Bash League 2024-25 (BBL) between Melbourne Renegades and Sydney Sixers is currently underway at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney. This match was significant for Hassan Khan, a Pakistan native who currently plays for the United States of America, who made his debut today for the Renegades.

Although a short 6-run stint at the crease, the player grabbed attention with a picture-perfect cut shot during the high-octane clash. In the 11th over, Ben Dwarshuis bowled over the wicket, a full-length delivery on the middle stump line. Hassan comfortably stepped outside the crease and gave it a whack through the line. The ball travelled past the extra cover fielder in the ring and crashed onto the boundary with effortless grace.

The Melbourne Renegades posted 169/7, with Will Sutherland's vital 36 anchoring their innings. Jake Fraser-McGurk set a strong tone in the Powerplay with a rapid 21, but the Renegades lost regular wickets, including Josh Brown and Laurie Evans.

Tim Seifert top-scored with 50, but his partners fell cheaply, leaving him stranded. Sutherland provided some late impetus, adding 40 plus for the sixth wicket. Abbott and Dwarshuis were the standout bowlers, claiming two wickets each, while the spinners Davies and Murphy kept things tight.

At the time of writing, Sydney Sixers are at 31/1.
