During the ongoing T20 World Cup game between West Indies and Papua New Guinea, the cunning Rovman Powell tried to out-smart the match umpire after he was declared out by the umpire. In this process, he wasted a crucial review even when there was a clear noise.

Watch the video here:

Here's exactly how it went down: PNG's Soper bowled a touch short delivery, pitched a shade outside the off-stump. Powell at the front foot looked to swing it hard. The ball passed very close to the inside edge and the keeper took a good catch.

As soon as this happened, PNG players went up in appeal and the umpire rose his finger, clearly indicating that it was a wicket. With a sluggish look, Powell decided to take the review while thumping his bat on the ground, almost as if he was well set before the mishap occurred.

As the replays showed, it was a fair delivery and the ball had indeed hit the bottom edge. The spike on UltraEdge confirmed it, and as a result of thi,s Powell was sent packing for 15 runs off 14 balls.

At the time of writing, WI has won their tournament opener by 5 wickets and Roston Chase won the Player of the Match for their game against PNG for his 42* off 27 balls.
