The ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 game between West Indies and Papua New Guinea at Providence Stadium in Guyana, has been marred by rain. The ground-staff ran towards the pitch and the covers were placed.

While there were only light showers at the beginning, after a couple of overs it worsened as rain intensified coupled with extreme cloud cover and thunderstorms.

However, the rain has eased a bit now as of 10:10 PM IST. The bigger cover is being peeled off and within a minute all the covers are off the field. This indicates that we might have a restart soon enough. Moreover, the umpires walk into the field for an inspection without umbrellas.

During the interruption, Nao spoke with his wicketkeeper and captain, Asaad Vala regarding the LBW, but they decided against the review. Right before the rain, replays confirmed that Pooran would have been a goner had PNG taken a review.

At the time of writing before the rain, WI is at 8/1, with Nicholas Pooran and Brandon King. Follow our live-blog for all real-time updates.
