The Joburg Super Kings are playing against Durban's Super Giants in the eighth match of the SA20 2025. The match is being played at Kingsmead in Durban, South Africa.
The Super Kings won the toss for the game and opted to field first. They did not have a great start to their innings as the skipper, Faf du Plessis, fell early in the innings.
After the skipper's departure, Devon Conway and Leus du Plooy tried stabilising the Super Kings' innings. However, the Super Giants kept chipping away with the wickets, putting JSK under pressure.
The England star Jonny Bairstow and Wihan Lubbe got together after the fall of the third wicket and progressed steadily toward a competitive total. As the partnership was building, an untoward incident happened on the field that grabbed the attention of the fans.
Naveen-ul-Haq Nearly Hits Lubbe's Head With A Beamer
On the fourth delivery of the 13th over, the Afghanistan pacer, Naveen-ul-Haq, bowled a beamer directed straight to the head of Wihaan Lubbe. The southpaw evaded the ball as he mistimed a pull off the back foot. It would have been disastrous if Lubbe did not connect the ball as it was bowled with pace. Although it looked like a potentially dangerous incident, Naveen's apologising immediately indicated that it was not done intentionally.
However, the bowler was given a warning that if he bowled another full toss above waist height, he would not be able to bowl further in the match. The delivery was also given a no-ball.
Naveen's Tussle With Kohli
Notably, Indian cricket fans will be acquainted with Naveen ul-Haq's name after the bowler had a heated argument with star Indian batter Virat Kohli during IPL 2023. The rift between the two players extended off the field when the Afghan star made cryptic posts regarding it. However, the two players were seen burying the hatchet during the ODI World Cup 2023 clash between India and Afghainstan.
