India has recently faced a humiliating defeat against the Australians in the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The team will now be eager to bounce back and announce themselves as a force to be reckoned with in the international arena.
The next big stage that India will get to prove themselves will be the Champions Trophy 2025. Rohit Sharma-led India will be keen on winning this trophy and returning the glory that the nation enjoyed after the T20 World Cup 2024 win.
Even though India will be keen to win the title, it will face significant obstacles during the tournament. One such obstacle could be England. The English team is in a different group, so they would play against the Indian team only in the semis or the summit clash of the tournament.
Here are three English players who could be the biggest threats to India in the game -
3. Adil Rashid

If India qualifies for the semi-final or final of the tournament, then the game will be played at the Dubai International Stadium. The venue is generally a flat track but is also known to favour the spinners when the artificial lights are not on. If the track plays well for the spinners and India is forced to bat first on the track, then Adil Rashid could very well emerge as a game-changer for the English team.
2. Joe Root
Joe Root has been in tremendous form in international cricket for 18 months. Even though most of his exploits have been in the Test format, he has the class to adjust his game perfectly for the ODIs.
Besides his form, the fact that he is a good player for spin acts in his favour. Root's ability to bat dynamically and rotate the strike against the spinners in the middle overs will be a big positive for the English side in the game. Also, Root can be pretty handy with the ball in hand. If the track provides a bit of help to the spinners, England can bring about more flexibility and dynamism in their bowling attack by using a chunk of his overs.
1. Jos Buttler

The Indian skipper is a clutch performer, and he has shown it many times previously. Jos Buttler has the temperament to take things slow when they are not going his way, and then he takes the attack on the bowlers as he settles in the crease.
Jos Buttler's ability to adapt to any type of game situation and adjust his game as per the proceedings make him the most valuable player in his side. Besides this, his propensity to deliver big in big games is another reason he could be a match-winner against India in the knock-outs.
