Markhors’ fast bowler Naseem Shah once again got the new-ball talking for his captain Mohammad Rizwan in the ongoing Pakistan Champions One-Day Cup 2024 season. Sharing the new-ball with Akif Javed, Naseem dismissed both Stallions openers to seal an early advantage for Markhors in the fourth match of the competition.

For starters, Naseem Shah outmaneuvered Yasir Khan with extra bounce off the surface before castling Pakistan international Shan Masood for all money within his opening spell itself.

Defending 232 runs for a win, Markhors paceman Naseem Shah dismissed both Stallions openers Yasir Khan and Shan Masood inside the first 10 overs of the run-chase. Assisted by captain and wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan behind the stumps, Naseem got rid of Yasir after inducing an outside edge through some extra bounce off the surface.

Yasir’s early dismissal and Naseem Shah’s sublime new-ball gambit prompted Stallions number three Babar Azam to arrive to the crease in just the fifth over of the innings. The fast bowler also accounted for the wicket of Stallions’ other opener and current national Test captain Shan Masood with a scorcher just a couple of overs later in the run-chase.

Earlier in the match, Markhors managed just 231 before getting all out in 45 overs. Salman Agha and Iftikhar Ahmed listed calculated half-centuries in the middle overs while captain Mohammad Rizwan and number seven Abdul Samad listed valiant 30s from their ends.

For the Stallions, new-ball striker Jahandad Khan bagged four wickets in the space of his 10-over spell at the expense of just 49 runs. Young left-arm spinner Mehran Mumtaz also seized three wickets, including that of well-set batters Mohammad Rizwan and Iftikhar Ahmed from his 10-over spell.
