Hasan Ali slams PCB (Source:@cric_blog,x.com)
In a significant development, Pakistan fast bowler Hasan Ali has slammed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for alleged favouritism in handling player injuries, questioning why dynamic batter Saim Ayub received special treatment while others, including himself, did not. Speaking on the Ultra Edge podcast, Hasan expressed frustration over PCB’s decision to send Ayub to London for rehabilitation while other injured players were left without similar support.
“Saim Ayub is injured, and he is part of the team. Wasn’t I also a team member in 2020? If another player gets injured, won’t he be part of the team? Does he play for India?” Hasan asked, highlighting the disparity in medical care.
Recalling his own struggles with a severe back injury, Hasan Ali criticised PCB for failing to assist him during his recovery period. However, Hasan wished Ayub a speedy recovery, he questioned whether PCB would extend the same treatment to him in the future.
"I had severe back pain and was away from cricket for a long time, but the PCB never offered any guidance or help with my recovery. Right now, they are giving him VVIP treatment, but will they do the same next time? No, they won’t,” he remarked.
How Did Saim Ayub Get Injured?
Saim Ayub sustained an ankle injury while fielding during the second Test against South Africa in Cape Town. The 21-year-old lost his balance while attempting a relay fielding effort with Aamer Jamal, twisting his ankle severely. After receiving on-field medical attention, he was stretchered off and was later ruled out of the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025 due to an extended recovery timeline.
