Bangladesh had a disastrous start against New Zealand on Tuesday (September 26) in the third and final ODI of the series at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka. The Tigers, trailing by 0-1 after their series opener ended in a washout, lost both openers, Tanzid Hasan and Zakir Hasan, without making much impact.

For New Zealand, early breakthroughs came from Adam Milne and Trent Boult, two of their new ball sensations.

Milne, coming to bowl the second over, pitched a full delivery from over the wicket, which dipped in. Zakir wanted to play outside the line but failed to get to the line of the delivery. The ball went on to break the stumps, and thus, Zakir’s stay ended after a paltry 5-ball 1.

In the following over, Tanzid Hasan departed cheaply after a five-ball 5. It was Boult’s first ODI wicket in Bangladesh, and the success came after he pitched a length delivery moving away from the batsman. Tanzid tried to play it with caution, only to get a thick outside edge. The ball went on to the safest hands of Finn Allen, who did the job without any trouble.

At the time of writing, Bangladesh are on 113/4 in 21.2 overs, with Mahmudullah in the middle alongside stand-in captain Najmul Hossain Shanto, on 10* and 51* respectively.
