Australia’s hard-hitting batsman Tim David made instant impact for Hobart Hurricanes, albeit with the ball, by dismissing Melbourne Renegades opener Shaun Marsh in match number 26 of the ongoing BBL 2023-24 season.

After setting up Marsh with five straight dot deliveries in a row, the part-time spinner cramped the opener for room with a hard-length delivery, with wicketkeeper Ben McDermott completing the formality through an easy catch behind the stumps.

Australian middle-order batsman and occasional spinner Tim David trapped Melbourne Renegades’ in-form opener Shaun Marsh for a duck to gift Hobart Hurricanes an early wicket in their must-win BBL 2023-24 away game at Docklands Stadium.

Interestingly, after Tim David’s wicket-maiden over, the cricketer was opted out of the attack by Hobart Hurricanes captain Nathan Ellis. Melbourne Renegades went on to list 147-4 from their 20 overs, with Jordan Cox (47) and Jonathan Wells (38*) top-scoring in the innings through handy middle-order contributions.

Meanwhile, Tim David’s bowling dexterity came to the fore just a month after he was retained by the Mumbai Indians franchise for this year’s IPL 2024 season. The Singapore-born player was roped in by the Mumbai Indians management back in 2022. The franchise made further additions to their squad at the auction on December 19.

David has so far played 24 matches for Mumbai Indians in the last two seasons, where he scored 417 runs at a strike-rate of above 177 while bating in the middle-order. The upcoming IPL 2024 season will mark his third seasonal appearance for the franchise, and the fourth overall of his IPL career.
