The world currently lacks as many stylish batters as Babar Azam when it comes to ODI cricket. The 28-year-old once again displayed his class on Thursday, September 14, during Pakistan's pivotal Asia Cup match against Sri Lanka at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

On Babar's second delivery of the day, Pramod Madushan pitched it to the length region and bowled it towards the stumps. The Pakistan captain, currently the No. 1-ranked ODI batsman in the world, clipped it between mid-on and mid-wicket with superb timing.

Babar's timing was so flawless that there was no chance for the Sri Lankan fielders to stop the ball before it reached the boundary ropes.

It goes without saying that the shot gave the self-assured Babar the confidence he needed in a match that was crucial because the winner would join India in the competition's final.

At the time of writing, Pakistan have reached 56/1 after 12 overs. After opting to bat, they lost Fakhar Zaman early, but Abdullah Shafique and Babar have successfully rebuilt the innings to steady the ship.

Babar is currently batting on 21* off 24 balls, while Shafique is on 28* off 40 balls.
