After three washouts, finally, a match went ahead as planned in Florida as Pakistan locked horns against Ireland at the Central Broward Regional Park.

Babar Azam-led side won the toss and elected to field first. Pakistan got off to a brilliant start as they restricted Ireland to 15/4 within just three overs. In the first over, Shaheen took two wickets, while Mohammad Amir too registered his name in the wicket-takers list by dismissing skipper Paul Stirling.

On the fourth ball of the 2nd over, Amir shortened his length to a struggling Paul Stirling, who again mistimed the shot. The delivery found an outside edge and Mohammad Rizwan made no mistake behind the wickets.

With the wicket, Amir silenced his critics, who were after his performance as Pakistan saw an early exit from T20 World Cup 2024. Notably, with defeats against India and the USA, the Men in Green failed to qualify for the Super 8 round, which saw heavy criticism directed towards the players.

Amir, who reversed his retirement to feature for Pakistan was also under the scanner and his place in the playing XI was questioned. There were even reports of him retiring again after the World Cup.  At the time of writing this article, Ireland are 21/4.
