The world of cricket is no stranger to heated verbal exchanges, and it happens more often than not when Asian countries face off. Fans witnessed a similar scene in Bloemfontein on Saturday (January 20) when India took on Bangladesh in the Under 19 World Cup 2024.

It all happened when Maruf Mridha, Bangladesh’s talented U-19 left-arm pacer, took the dangerous wicket of India’s wicket-keeper batter Aravelly Avanish. Just after smashing a six, Avanish holed out to Mohammad Shihab James at deep extra cover, and immediately after, Mridha pointed with his finger to leave the field with anger.

Although Avanish looked back at him for a while, he did not get involved verbally with the Bangladeshi to turn things dirty. However, the on-field umpire did not like what just happened, as he saw the continuous approach from Mridha whenever he got a wicket against India.

As soon as Mahfuzur Rahman Rabby spoke with the umpire, things resumed in a polite manner.

Mridha finished with impressive figures of 8-1-43-5 against India, as India closed on 251/7 at the end of the innings. India captain Uday Saharan made 64 off 94 balls, whereas Adarsh Singh top-scored with a 96-ball 76.
