Mark Wood took the limelight on Monday during England’s World Cup warm-up match against Bangladesh at Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati. The 33-year-old, known for being the fastest bowler across the world at present, dismissed Tanzid Hasan and castled the middle stump in the process.

It was a length delivery by Wood pitched just outside the off stump. Tanzid Hasan, batting on 45 off 44 balls, tried to push it away from his body, only to get a thick inside edge. The pace of the delivery was so quick, that the ball broke the middle stump, and even uprooted it.

Wood was delighted to get a wicket in that manner, while Tanzid was seen disappointed after losing his wicket. The 22-year-old opener batted beautifully, smashing seven fours and one six, but fell on the verge of getting a well-deserved half-century.

At the time of writing, Bangladesh are batting on 98/3 in 20 overs, with Mushfiqur Rahim and Mehidy Hasan Miraz in the middle. For England, Reece Topley took two early wickets before Wood came and rattled the stumps.

England will play the curtain raiser of the World Cup on October 5 against New Zealand at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
