Netherlands speedster Paul van Meekeren cleaned up Marco Jansen to worsen South Africa’s run-chase troubles in Dharamsala. Turning up for his side in their third match of the ongoing 2023 World Cup, the Proteas all-rounder failed to get going in his 25-ball stay at the crease, as he barely managed to add 20 runs for the sixth wicket with specialist batter David Miller.

Marco Jansen, having shared the new ball with Lungi Ngidi, conceded just 27 runs from his eight overs. The star pacer even dismissed Dutch opener Max O'Dowd and well-set number six Teja Nidamanuru to bag two wickets in the first half of the rain-curtailed contest.

As it turned out, Jansen failed to replicate the same impact for South Africa with the bat as he scored just nine runs from 25 balls in their tight run-chase. Just as he was settling in the crease alongside senior partner David Miller, the cricketer was cleaned up by Netherlands speedster Paul van Meekeren to worsen South Africa’s troubles at 109-6, leaving the Proteas to fetch another 136 runs from the remaining 18 overs.

Marco Jansen’s dismissal paved way for Gerald Coetzee into the crease, who joined Miller in amping up the scoring frequency against their mounting required rate.

At the time of publishing, South Africa reached 141-6 from their 30 overs, requiring another 105 runs to win from 13 overs.
