The Emerging Asia Cup 2024 is now into its semifinal stage. Pakistan A are up against Sri Lanka A in the first semifinal and Lankan bowlers did brilliantly with the ball to reduce their opponents to just 135. Omair Yousuf was the only one who displayed some character and scored 68 off 46 balls. There were lot of hopes on Mohammad Haris too, but the Pakistan A skipper was shot down by Eshan Malinga with a perfect yorker.
It was the second delivery of the final over of the Powerplay and Haris was looking to break free after scoring just six off seven balls so far. Haris made his intentions clear a bit earlier as he moved across to his right a bit early. Seeing it, Eshan Malinga very cleverly bowled a perfect yorker on middle and leg and Haris failed to connect. The ball shattered the stumps, and Pakistan skipper was left disappointed with the choice of his shot.
Malinga ended with the figures of 2 for 28 in his four overs while Dushan Hemantha was the wrecker-in-chief with four wickets. In reply, Sri Lanka A batters have batted positively and Lahiru Udara led the way with 43 off just 20 balls. They are on the verge of a victory now, and are all set to play the final of the tournament after starting the tournament with a loss.
