During the 41st match of the ICC World Cup 2023, Sri Lanka faced New Zealand at the M Chinnaswamy stadium, and the day didn't start well for the Sri Lankan team. The Blackcaps won the toss and elected to bowl, putting Sri Lanka under pressure. As the overs progressed, wickets fell steadily, and by the 40th over, Sri Lanka found themselves with 9 wickets down. It seemed as if Sri Lankan batters were struggling in a Test match format.

In the midst of this challenging situation, a moment of concern arose when Sri Lanka's Maheesh Theekshana faced a short delivery by Lockie Ferguson. With a loud cry of pain, Theekshana got hit on his right arm. Though the ball wasn't head-high, Theekshana had to jump to play it and missed his defense, resulting in the ball striking his arm.

He lay on the ground, in pain. The physiotherapist rushed to his aid, providing some spray and painkillers. Fortunately, he managed to stand up with determination, ready to continue the game.

At the time of writing, Sri Lanka stood at 166 for 9 in 45 overs, and Maheesh Theekshana, despite the injury scare, was still striving to add valuable runs. He showed resilience by hitting a boundary against Tim Southee, making a statement of determination on the field.
