How Can Kohli, Rohit’s India Lose The World Cup 2023? Gilchrist Reveals The ‘Secret’ Recipe

Under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy, India have been in astonishing form in the World Cup 2023 at home. Since the beginning of the competition, the Men in Blue have won eight out of eight matches, and whoever stands in their way have been bulldozed.

How is their carnage going to end? How are the opposition able to exert pressure on them? In a recent interview with Fox Sports, Adam Gilchrist, the three-time winner of the ODI World Cup, disclosed the strategy.

Gilchrist emphasized the extent of the damage that Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj—the trio of Indian pace bowlers—have been causing for a while. For the match to be evenly contested, the opposition must first win the toss and decide to bat against Rohit & Co.

However, at the same time, the former Australian wicketkeeper-batsman praised Virat Kohli, who is referred to as the ’chase master’ because of his impeccable record when batting second over the years.

Here's what Adam Gilchrist told Fox Sports

"I think firstly winning the toss and batting first, given how India have gone about their business. I don't suggest that they have a weakness in chasing. They have the greatest-ever run-chase co-ordinator in Virat Kohli," Gilchrist said.

"But the damage that the Indian bowling attack has been doing under lights they have been lethal. Siraj, Shami, and Bumrah have been almost unplayable. It might be more conducive to bat against them in daylight."

Before moving onto semi-finals, table-toppers India will play their final league game against the Netherlands in Match 45 of the ongoing World Cup.
