Day 1 of the ongoing second Test at Cape Town has been dominated by bowlers, where first India's Mohammed Siraj produced an enthralling spell, which South Africa's Lungi Ngidi felt inspired, and displayed a similar show.

Ngidi, who missed the first Centurion Test due, came into playing XI replacing the injured Gerald Coetzee.

Ngidi turned the tides in South Africa's favor in the final session, with India marching ahead with ease at Tea with a narrow 56-run lead and with six wickets in hand.

Ngidi, who replaced Marco Jansen in the 33rd over, exhibited an exemplary display of fast bowling, claiming as many as three wickets in the over, which included KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, and Jasprit Bumrah.

While Rahul and Jadeja were out playing shots, Bumrah in an attempt to fend off a short-pitch ball got himself caught at the gully region.

Ngidi much like others extracted extra bounce from the track, which found the shoulder of Bumrah's bat, and lobbed into Jansen's hands.

Ngidi's triple-wicket maiden started India's collapse, who lost the remaining three wickets in the next over and were bundled out for 153, earning themselves a 98-run lead with Virat Kohli top scoring with 46.

As of writing, South Africa are batting for the second-time on Day 1 and are on 4 for 0, with Dean Elgar (0*) and Aiden Markram (4*) in the middle.
