The Powerplay overs are where Trent Boult is at his best, as he is known to strike with the new ball most of the time. The left-arm quick did the job on Friday (October 13) as well when New Zealand took on Bangladesh in Match 11 of the World Cup 2023 at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.

More significantly, it was Litton Das who fell for golden duck, as Bangladesh suffered a massive blow as early as after the first ball of the day.

Boult began the day with a sharp in-swinger towards the leg stump, which Litton tried to play over leg side after coming down the track. The timing was not as perfect as Litton would have liked, and Matt Henry, placed at deep fine leg, took an excellent catch to get New Zealand off to an ideal start.

A full-fit Kane Williamson returned to play for New Zealand earlier this year, giving the team a boost. He replaced Will Young in the playing XI, and decided to bowl first, keeping India's recent fixture against Australia in mind.

To make matters worse for the Tigers, it is important to note that Litton is celebrating his 29th birthday today.

At the time of writing, Bangladesh are batting on 16/1 after three overs.
