In the final T20I of the series, India are set to face Afghanistan in a dead rubber at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Wednesday, January 17.

Following a six-wicket victory in the series opener on January 11, led by captain Rohit Sharma, India secured another 6-wicket win over Afghanistan, led by Ibrahim Zadran, at the Holkar Stadium in Indore on Sunday (January 14), taking an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.

Afghanistan will aim to bounce back and secure a consolation win, especially at a venue where they previously faced defeat in their only Test match encounter.

Now, both teams will compete for the first time in the T20 format at the M Chinnaswamy Cricket Stadium in Bengaluru, where the hosts maintain a 3-3 record, with one match ending in no result.

M Chinnaswamy Stadium Pitch Report

The ground is widely renowned as a heaven for batters, owing to its flat wickets and smaller square boundaries. However, in a recent game against Australia, India successfully defended a total of 160, with slow bowlers performing well for both teams.

Despite this, it's unlikely that the upcoming game will feature a similar surface. Batters from both sides are expected to relish playing on this wicket. Someone like Virat Kohli knows a lot about this pitch, having played a significant amount of cricket on it in the IPL since 2008.

Determining a match-winning score at this venue is challenging, but around 200 runs would be considered competitive, offering the team a strong chance of securing victory.

In the nine T20Is held at this venue, teams chasing have had a 5-3 advantage over teams batting first, with an average first innings score of 141.

Dew may also play a role, given that the game is being played in winter, although it might arrive slightly later compared to other venues. In T20s played here, the majority of matches have been won by the chasing teams. Therefore, both captains are likely to opt to bowl first after winning the toss.
