Former South African cricketer AB de Villiers has weighed in on the World Test Championship (WTC) final, expressing his difficulty in choosing a clear favorite. However, he believes that India has the edge and will emerge victorious on the fifth day of the match.

The highly anticipated WTC final between India and Australia is set to take place at the Oval from June 7 to 11. India will be participating in their second consecutive WTC final, having previously lost to New Zealand. Meanwhile, Australia's consistent performance throughout the championship secured their first-ever final appearance.

When asked about his favourites and likely winners, de Villiers admitted the challenge of making a definitive choice, considering both teams' limited Test cricket in recent times. However, he noted that India's previous win against a strong England team at the Oval would give them confidence.

"Very difficult to say who are the favorites. Both teams have not been playing a lot of Test cricket of late but what I can say is that India in their last Test match at the Oval have got a win against this very strong England team. They will be taking a bit of confidence from that,”  said AB de Villiers while speaking to JioCinema.

De Villiers anticipates a closely contested match, possibly going the distance. While acknowledging the favorable batting conditions, he believes that India's spinners will come into play during the latter stages of the Test match.

"I think India will come out on top on day five of the Test match. I think it might go all the way. It's a good wicket to bat on but I think the Indian spinners will come into play in the latter stages of the Test match,"  de Villiers concluded.

As cricket enthusiasts eagerly await the WTC final, de Villiers' insights add to the anticipation surrounding the clash between India and Australia. With both teams determined to claim the prestigious title, the battle on the field promises to be intense and thrilling.
