The Australia Masters faced off against the Sri Lanka Masters in the sixth match of the IML T20 2025 at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara. Opting to bowl first, Sri Lanka Masters looked to put the pressure on the Australian batting lineup, but veteran all-rounder Shane Watson rolled back the years with a vintage display at the crease.

A former Australian captain and one of the most impactful all-rounders in modern cricket, Shane Watson has left an indelible mark on the sport. Known for his aggressive stroke play and ability to dominate opposition attacks, the 43-year-old has been in resurgent form in the IML 2025. His performances in the tournament have showcased his ability to still take on the bowlers, proving why he remains a fan favourite.

Watson Turns Back The Clock With Trademark Shots

Watson began his innings in his trademark style, taking the attack to the Sri Lankan bowlers. He played some exquisite drives and powerful flicks, keeping the scoreboard ticking. However, his stay was short-lived as he was dismissed for 16 off 13 balls, caught by Isuru Udana off Dhammika Prasad’s delivery.

Despite his early exit, Watson set the tone for the innings, allowing the likes of Shaun Marsh and Ben Dunk to capitalize. At the time of writing, Australia Masters are at 123/2 in 13 overs, with Ben Dunk leading the charge with his fifty and Marsh providing solid support.

The Sri Lankan bowlers have struggled to contain the runs, with Prasad managing the only breakthrough by dismissing Watson. With Australia Masters maintaining a strong run rate, they look set for a commanding total in this thrilling encounter.
