Shami celebrating Warner's wicket (AP Photos)
Mohammed Shami provided India with a much-needed early breakthrough on Sunday (November 19) during their World Cup 2023 final against Australia at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. The right-arm quick, who has been in the form of his life, got rid of the dangerous David Warner, who fell after a three-ball seven.
Coming to defend 240, India were desperately looking for a wicket, keeping Warner and Travis Head’s exploits in mind. Shami did the job for them, bowling a good length delivery angled in sharply. Warner went for a cut, only to get a thick outside edge before Virat Kohli took an excellent catch at the slip cordon to end the Australian’s stay.
Kohli was absolutely pumped after taking the catch, and was seen expressive on the field, as Shami, yet again made headlines in India's epic summit clash against the five-time champions.
