Team India aced a tight chase against Australia in the semifinals of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. Chasing 265 runs for a win, Indian wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul composed a fighting 42* from 34 balls with two boundaries and two huge sixes, and shared match-defining partnerships with half-centurion Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya to take India home.
After the match, Rahul was spotted engaging himself in a seemingly friendly interaction with Australian cricketer and India’s familiar adversary, Travis Head.

KL Rahul, after notching up the winning runs for Team India in a thrilling semifinal, was spotted interacting with Travis Head near the boundary line. The two belligerent cricketers also shook hands and shared a friendly hug with each other.
As it turned out, KL Rahul whacked 42* from 34 balls after arriving to the crease following the dismissal of Axar Patel at 178-4 in 35 overs. The elegant wicketkeeper-batter shared a crucial 47-run partnership with Virat Kohli, who himself top-scored in the innings by mounting 84 off 98 balls with five boundaries.
Hardik Pandya blazed his way to a swift 28 before Rahul launched Glenn Maxwell for a match-winning six in the penultimate over.
Earlier in the match, Australia accrued 264 after winning the toss and opting to bat first. Going great guns at the top of the order, Travis Head clattered 39 quick runs before falling to in-form Indian spinner Varun Chakravarthy. Steve Smith and Alex Carey scored cracking half-centuries, while Mohammed Shami picked up three wickets at an expense of just 48 runs.
Team India will now face either New Zealand or South Africa in the final of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy on March 9.
