In a quirky and superstitious gesture, KKR captain Shreyas Iyer was seen kissing the coin during the toss ahead of the match against LSG in Eden Gardens in the IPL 2024 season. 

Superstitions have long been a part of cricket, with players often resorting to various rituals and actions to bring luck or ward off bad omens during crucial games. It becomes a part of their routine once the superstition starts to show results.

With a similar thought of summoning some luck towards Kolkata Knight Riders, captain Shreyas Iyer was captured resorting to unusual means during the coin toss formality at Eden Garden.

KKR was hosting LSG for a day game at Kolkata, and as Shreyas Iyer walked out with KL Rahul, the former was handed over the coin for the toss as the home captain.

However, Iyer sneakily kissed the coin and tried to cover his superstitious activity with his elbow before the front camera caught the act in real-time. 

Interestingly, Iyer ended up winning the toss, thus fueling speculations of a new budding superstition happening inside the KKR camp.

Not only did Shreyas Iyer win the toss, but his team, KKR, also ended up on the winning side after chasing a 162-run target inside 16 overs.

Notably, Iyer reportedly resorted to similar means during a previous game in the tournament, which KKR happened to win.

Regardless of the superstition, KKR's recipe for success this season has been an all-around performance. With players stepping up in their respective roles to tick all the boxes, Iyer can count on a playoff spot this year.
