[Watch] Faf du Plessis Outsmarted By Afghan Spinner In CPL 2024
Faf du Plessis was bowled by a great delivery in the 12th match of CPL 2024 [X]
The St. Lucia Kings are locking horns with the Trinbago Knight Riders in the 12th match of the CPL 2024. This match is being played at the Daren Sammy Stadium in St. Lucia, Gros Islet.
The Knight Riders won the toss in the game and put the Kings into bat. The openers of the Kings, Faf du Plessis and Johnson Charles, got them off to a steady start. The duo stitched 40 runs in the first four overs and had great momentum going into the next phase of the innings.
Sunil Narine struck to put TKR ahead in the match
However, Charles soon departed and was quickly followed by Shadrack Descartes. It was Sunil Narine, the master of T20 bowling, who accounted for both the batter. At this stage, the onus was on Faf du Plessis to get the team to a respectable total. The skipper of the St. Lucia Kings was looking good in the middle and looked set for an impactful knock.
When it looked like du Plessis would play a knock that would put the Kings ahead in the game, the ex-South African international fell to a brilliant piece of bowling by the Afghan spinner Waqar Salamkheil.
Faf du Plessis failed despite a promising start
On the last delivery of the eighth over, Salamkheil bowled a good length delivery at the middle stump line that turned into the batter. Faf du Plessis was looking to work the ball away to the leg side but was completely deceived by the wrong one by the bowler. The ball sneaked in through the gap between the bat and pads and clattered into the stumps, ending du Plessis's stay in the middle.
The fall of du Plessis had the Kings in a spot of bother. At the time of writing, the Kings are stationed at 120/3 in 13 overs, courtesy of a developing patrnership between Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Rosoton Chase.
