The St. Lucia Kings and the Trinbago Kinght Riders are crossing swords in the 12th match of the CPL 2024 at the Daren Sammy Stadium in St. Kitts, Gros Islet.

The skipper of the Trinbago Knight Riders, Kieron Pollard won the toss in this game and opted to field first. The Knight Riders are coming into this match on the back of a defeat and are eager for a win to get their campaign back on track.

Charles and du Plessis gave a good start to Kings

The St. Lucia Kings are also sailing on the same boat as they too have lost their last game against the Guyana Amazon Warriors. The Faf du Plessis-led side were  looking for a solid start from their two openers, Johnson Charles and the skipper. The duo did stitch together a partnership of 40 runs in the first four overs and added good momentum to start of the innings.

However, the start could have been hampered by the fall of Charles in the second over of the innings. Jason Roy, put in a brilliant effort at the long-off position on the fourth ball of the second innings but unfortunately, the English player could not grab the catch or stop the ball from going over the fence for a maximum.

Roy failed to catch the ball despite a brilliant effort

Jayden Seales was bowling in the second over of the innings. He bowled a full delivery outside the off stump. Charles cleared his front leg and lofted the ball towards long-off. Seales did not get the perfect connection and ball skied up in the air. Roy stationed in the deep jumped and put in an unreal effort to catch the ball. However, it was out of his reach and despite hitting his fingertips it went away for a maximum.

Charles did not last long after this. He was dismissed on the last ball of the fourth over when he was batting at 29 off 14 deliveries. At the time of writing, the Kings are stationed at 85/3 in 10 overs.
