Shivam Dube struck an unbeaten 60* [X.com]
Making a comeback into international cricket is never easy, and more so in the Indian T20I setup remains quite challenging. Mumbai all-rounder Shivam Dube, who after a stellar Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) made his return to the international scene against Afghanistan last evening in Mohali, attained a rare Indian T20I feat achieved only by Yuvraj Singh, Hardik Pandya, and Virat Kohli.
Dube starred for India in the first T20I of the three-match series on Thursday evening, with both ball and bat first picking one wicket and then smashing an unbeaten 60* helping the hosts chase down 160, thus becoming only the fourth Indian T20I player to score a fifty and claim a wicket in the same match.
Singh leads the way with three appearances, followed by Kohli with two, and Pandya, who has registered the rare feat once.
Singh first achieved this feat against New Zealand in 2009, scoring 50 and picking one wicket, then in 2009 at Mohali scoring an unbeaten 60 and clinching three wickets.
Kohli in the iconic ICC T20 World Cup 2012 clash against Pakistan, scored a match-winning 78* and picked one wicket, and then again scored 77 and claimed a solitary wicket against Sri Lanka in the ICC T20 World Cup 2014 Final.
Before Dube, Pandya became the last player to attain such an impressive feat, scoring 51 and claiming four wickets against England in T20I in 2022.
