In the ongoing first ODI between Australia and Pakistan at the MCG in Melbourne, the hosts are cruising towards a win as the Men in Yellow, fielding first, restricted the visitors to just 203 runs.
Mohammad Rizwan was the pick of the bowlers for his 44-run knock, while Naseen Shah was the second-leading run-getter and scored a quickfire 40 runs that featured four fours. Meanwhile, the middle order disappointed the Pakistani fans, in particular Kamran Ghulam, who was on cloud nine after he smashed a century on his Test debut against England.
Ghulam Imitates Steve Smith
However, Ghulam failed to put on a show at the MCG and returned to the pavilion with a score of 5 (6). He fell prey to Pat Cummins, who bowled a lethal bouncer that left the right-arm batter clueless.
However, Ghulam is also making headlines for imitating Steve Smith. It is worth noting that a ball before he was dismissed, Kamran defended the delivery and then rejected a single to his partner with a loud no and gesture like Steve Smith that went viral.
Commentators Make Derogatory Remarks For Kamran Ghulam
Meanwhile, the commentators marred into controversy for their distasteful remarks when Ghulam was at the crease. Notably, after the dismissal, commentator Kerry O Keefe trolled Kamran for his shot selection and remarked, 'This is not Multan Pitch Baby, it is MCG.'
The remark has not gone well with the fans, and they have called out the commentator for his distasteful remarks against the Pakistani batters. Several fans took to social media platforms to call out the commentator for his choice of words.
Further, Wasim Akram and Michael Vaughan too found themselves in hot water as they brought Ghulam's family into conversation while he was batting.
