The Eliminator between Washington Freedom and MI New York ended with the Nicholas Pooran-led side prevailing by 16 runs and setting up a date with Texas Super Giants on Saturday in the Challenger of the ongoing Major League Cricket (MLC) 2023 competition.
While the result might not have been ideal for Freedom, South Africa's Justin Dill made an ever-last impression on his MLC debut for the franchise. The 28-year-old pacer bowled four overs and claimed the crucial wicket of Tim David, which was not the highlight, but it was the cricketer's football skills that stole the limelight in the first innings.
Dill, who had earlier inflicted a regulation run out already, managed to stun David Wiese with the footie skills in the 18th over. The debutant managed to back heel a straight drive from Steven Taylor onto the stumps on the on-strikers end with the Namibian all-rounder stranded outside the crease.

Wiese made three off 4, while MINY scored 141 runs with contributions from Dewald Brevis (57) and Shayan Jahangir (25).
In reply, WAF managed just 125 runs, with Marco Jansen top-scoring with 28, as Trent Boult claimed his second consecutive four-fer for MINY.
