In the 24th match of the ongoing ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024, Australia won the toss and opted to bowl first against Namibia at the Sri Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua.  Their decision to bowl first was fruitful as Josh Hazlewood scalped the first wicket providing a much-needed start to the Aussies.

Josh Hazlewood Scalps First Wicket For Australia

The incident occurred in the 2nd over of Namibia's innings where they lost their opener, Nikolaas Davin. Australian, right-arm bowler, Josh Hazlewood bowls a length delivery at 139 km/h outside off stump. The Namibian opener attempts to play an attacking shot by freeing his arms and staying on the leg-side of the ball, as he aims to hit it forcefully.

However, he mistimed his shot, sending the ball directly to Glenn Maxwell at backward point. Maxwell takes a sharp catch using a reverse cup technique, resulting in Davin's dismissal and Hazlewood securing the first wicket for Australia.

Right after taking the first wicket for Australia, Josh Hazlewood made things worse for Namibia as they lost two consecutive wickets and this time it was Micheal Van Lingen.

The Australian bowler bowled a shorter length ball outside the off and Van Lingen played it straight in the hands of Maxwell, who was placed at backward point.

At the time of writing, Namibia find themselves in deep trouble as they have already lost 5 wickets at 19 runs in 8 overs.
