Shivam Dube failed to deliver for India in the T20 World Cup 2024 clash against arch-rivals Pakistan at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York on Sunday, June 9. The left-hander departed for just three runs off nine balls in the mega clash of the ICC event.

Amidst the early blows dealt by Pakistan's bowlers with the dismissals of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, the onus fell on Shivam Dube to provide stability alongside Rishabh Pant. However, a mistimed shot off Naseem Shah's delivery led to Dube's early dismissal after a brief 3-run contribution. 

However, to make things bad to worse for himself, Dube's dropped catch off Bumrah's bowling during the Pakistan innings gave a reprieve to Mohammed Rizwan, which added to India's woes on the field.

Shivam Dube's selection for the India squad in the ICC event came after an impressive performance in IPL 2024, where he scored 396 runs in 14 matches for Chennai Super Kings (CSK). 

However, his form dipped in his last five IPL outings. Despite this, he was given a chance in the T20 World Cup warm-up game against Bangladesh. In that match, Dube scored 14 runs off 16 balls but made a significant contribution with the ball by taking two wickets. 

His all-round abilities provide valuable depth to the team, even though his recent batting form has been inconsistent.
