In the ongoing World Cup 2023, Afghanistan found themselves in a must-win situation after losing two consecutive matches. The pressure was mounting as they faced England, but their hopes took a hit when opener Ibrahim Zadran was dismissed in the 17th over. It was Rahmat Shah who strode to the crease, carrying the weight of his team's expectations. However, in the 20th over, Rahmat's dismissal for 3 runs off 8 balls proved to be a significant setback for Afghanistan's already fragile innings.

The moment of Rahmat Shah's departure arrived when England's premier spin bowler, Adil Rashid, outsmarted him. It was a classic delivery, tossed up beautifully, landing on a good length just outside the off stump. The ball sharply turned away, leaving Rahmat struggling to get to the pitch. In an attempt to defend, Rahmat was beaten on the outside edge, and England's wicketkeeper, Jos Buttler, displayed lightning-fast reflexes to dislodge the bails.

A tense moment followed as the decision was referred to the third umpire. The replay confirmed Rahmat had indeed dragged his back foot outside the crease, and by the time the bails were dislodged, he failed to get it back inside the crease. His back foot was not even on the crease line.

At the time of writing, Afghanistan was reeling at 137 for 3 after 24 overs, desperately needing a substantial partnership to revive their hopes in the crucial encounter.
