Indian keeper-batter KL Rahul achieved a milestone in his comeback international match, reaching the 2000-run mark in ODI cricket. Rahul needed 14 runs before the Indo-Pak Asia Cup clash to bring up the feat, and he did so with an eye-pleasing pull shot on a Haris Rauf delivery.

There were a lot of speculations regarding Rahul's inclusion in the Super Four fixture versus Pakistan. His backup, Ishan Kishan, has hit four back-to-back half-centuries, including the one that came against Pakistan in the group stage of the Asia Cup 2023.

This meant that Rahul, who, even after recovering from an injury, got ruled out of the first leg of the ongoing Asia Cup due to a niggle, would warm the benches. However, as Shreyas Iyer suffered back spasms, it opened a spot for him to fit in the XI.

Meanwhile, as expected, rain has caused an interruption in the India innings. Currently, India are at 147/2 in 24.1 overs, with Rahul batting on 17.

Rahul's performance in ODIs

The 31-year-old made his ODI debut versus Zimbabwe in 2016. He started as an opener but made a shift to the middle-order, and since then, he has been scoring runs consistently for India.

Having featured in 55 ODI matches so far, he has accumulated 2,003 runs, including five hundreds and 13 fifties, at an average and strike rate of 45.52 and 86.26, respectively.
