Joe Root is one of the best batters in world cricket and is expected to make big impact with the bat in this World Cup 2023. However, he is quite handy with the ball as well and has picked wickets not only in white-ball cricket but also in Test matches. Now, in the 13th match of World Cup 2023, he once again displayed his quality as a bowler as he cleaned up Afghanistan skipper with a beautiful delivery.

It was the 33th over of the game and Shahidi who was struggling to rotate strike tried to cut a shortish delivery from Joe Root. It was bowled from 'round the wicket and was a slider that came in with the angle. Shahidi was cramped for room and missed his cut shot completely as the ball knocked over the off pole.

Afghanistan actually started off with a bang, with Rahmanullah Gurbaz smashing 80 off 59 balls. However, once the first wicket fell, Afghanistan just lost their way and kept losing wickets at regular intervals and from 114-0, they have been reduced to 190-6.
