On Sunday, December 29, South Africa scripted history as the Proteas became the first team to qualify for WTC finals 2025 in Lord's. The Temba Bavuma-led side beat Pakistan by two wickets on day 4 of the first Test to script this historic feat. 

The Proteas started the Test on the right path but lost track of it as they were reduced to 99/8 while chasing a target of 148 runs. It was a tense moment at the Centurion as the fans and even the players were on their feet as Marco Jansen and Kagiso Rabada took the onus on their shoulders.

Jansen And Rabada Stitch 51-Runs Opening Stand

The duo stitched an unbeaten 51-run stand for the ninth wicket and it was the partnership that South Africa required. The duo did not hesitate to take on the bowlers and played their shots.

In fact, Marco Jansen played the winning shot and sealed a win with a boundary. It was an emotional moment as Jansen and Rabada roared in pride as they knew they played a huge role in their team's success.

South Africa Await India Or Australia In The Finals

South Africa now await India or Australia as the two teams are battling it out in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The series is poised at 1-1 and the 4th Test at the MCG will go on 5th day.

India need to win both of the remaining Test matches, while Australia also find themselves in a similar kind of a situation.
